Katherine M. Sauer, Ph.D.

Welcome

Greetings, Lovely Human. I’m Katherine Sauer (pronounced “sour”, like a lemon) and you are warmly welcomed to my little corner of the universe.

I’m equal parts inquisitive mind, mystical heart, and creative soul, wrapped up in a body that thrives on movement and sensory experience.

At my professional core, I’m a scholar – always deeply learning something and often teaching, mentoring, writing, or speaking as I synthesize the wisdom.

The throughline of my professional and personal interests is a devotion to fostering the vitality of the human spirit – through education, holistic leadership, work-life well-being, creative pursuits, and systems-level change.

Since 2007, this site has been a place to park my public projects. Back when I was a professor, that meant links to my published research articles and teaching resources. These days, it’s an evolving portfolio of whatever I’m getting up to (if it lives on the internet).

Enjoy your time browsing. I hope you find something that sparks your curiosity.

Women of Power: The moments that make us

The forthcoming Women of Power compilation, edited by Laura Nicholls, features an essay of mine entitled The Accidental Spiritual Awakening of a Ph.D. Economist. It’s my first crack at memoir-style writing and really stretched me to write.

My first book manuscript, MOTIVATED AF: Align Your Inner Drive for Performance and Fulfillment Without Burning Out is shaping up nicely. It’s for the mission-driven high performers who don’t want to be told to slow down.

Check out my free guided meditation channel on the Insight Timer platform. Most of my recordings are designed to be used during the workday and focus on work-related themes. This is the new home for the tracks I created for the now-retired FocusMinder app.
